One hundred varieties of vegetables, a 170-acre family farm in Goshen, and five generations of Morgiewiczes tending the soil that built this valley.
Every summer and fall we bring over one hundred varieties out of our fields. Classics, heirlooms, a few oddballs. Some we've grown since great-grandpa Joseph's day, some we swap in for a single season. Here's what shows up at the stands.
★ Signature crops · list rotates with the season
Morgiewicz Produce has very deep roots in the community it helped to form. In the late 1800s, Polish immigrant Joseph Morgiewicz settled in the Florida, NY area. By the early 1900s he began draining the swampland — now known as the fertile Black Dirt Region.
The soil is the key. With a natural organic matter content of 60 to 90 percent, it is perhaps the best ground in the country for growing vegetables. The farm has always been family owned and is fast approaching the 5th generation. Brothers Joseph, David, and Danny, along with their mother Sophie, currently operate the 170-acre farm and sell at ten different farmers markets throughout Westchester County and New York City.
"Retail farm stands are a relatively new concept to some — but Morgiewicz Produce has been making a trusted name in this business for more than twenty years in some of our locations."
Ten locations across the Hudson Valley, Westchester, and the five boroughs. Most stands run June through Thanksgiving. Hours and start dates below — weather and harvest permitting.
